Pastry Mille Morteln, age 9, is both his father's heir and the reincarnation of an unfulfilled pastry chef. While he dreams of a land filled with sweet treats, there's a lot to be done first! From learning how to fight, to controlling his new magical talents and doing his best to defend his village from bandits, and yet all he really wants to do is bake the perfect apple pie... Life in Morteln is many things, but never quiet. After beating back the bandit attack, Pastry and company are now left to handle the aftermath. With increasing money problems, Pas and Casserole start doing the rounds through high society to raise funds for repairs and rebuilding. However, dealing with aristocrats means dealing with political intrigue. Pas’s ingenuity has it covered... until new developments intervene. Pas may wish he could stand in front of the oven all day, but it's still a pretty Sweet Reincarnation.

After resolving the kidnapping incident, Pas next faces the aftermath - with some unexpected outcomes. Are those wedding bells in the distance ringing for him? Meanwhile, Pas and company continue bettering the conditions in Morteln, but their success could catch the attention of certain unfriendly political figures if he's not careful. Pas might be winning over friends with his candy-coated ambitions, but if he isn’t careful the wrong kind of people might become sweet on him.

Like all children his age, Pas has simple wants in life: goats, a wine press, and enough military prestige to claim a prosperous land as his own kingdom of sweets. Unfortunately, his day-to-day-life is interrupted by power struggles amongst higher nobles than himself and losing his new purchases to the needs of marching armies. Can Pas and Casserole bail out Lord Squale and recover their losses in the process - or will this not be such a Sweet Reincarnation after all?

The battle is over, and allies are satisfied. Still, not everything is sugar-crusted in Pas's life: fermentation mishaps and wildlife infestations are not the great baker's friend. Can the Mortelns fend off the fearsome fauna?

With Lord Casserole's status on the rise as the lord of Morteln, Pas has been invited to the prince's birthday celebrations! Meanwhile, the long-standing noble families of the conservative faction who oppose the reformist group begin hatching a plan to stop the dancing boy’s tune. What kinds of countermeasures can Pas cook up in time for the big event?

Pas and Casserole return to the royal capital, where they are approached by a messenger from a noble house. Upon speaking with the messenger's master, they take on a request to deliver a particular missive with great haste, in return for which they receive something they greatly desire. Later, the outcome of their task leads to an uproar revolving around a duel! The second son of Count Aurillon has mistaken Pas for a rival in love and challenges him to see who is worthy of the lovely lady in a battle with betrothal on the line. Will Pas prevail?

As the Tournament of Duels reaches its thrilling conclusion, Pas’s married older sister Vivi returns to Morteln to observe the massive changes that have taken place in her long time away. Pas tries to make himself useful by coming up with special treats to get their people through winter, but his father has only one job for him—to negotiate a banquet held by Viscount Bonbigno, lord of a distant seafaring province.

The young Viscount Bonbigno reveals why he needs Pas’s help—his domain is under threat from a variety of fronts. A grasping neighbor threatens his sovereignty, there are stirrings of rebellion within his own house, and pirates plague their shores and stymie their trade. Though hesitant to get involved in intrigues between houses, Pas agrees to help deal with the pirates...but the ensuing high seas adventure may reveal a deeper connection behind the Bonbigno family ills!

Pas and his crew are forced to deal with an outbreak of treachery in their high-seas hunt for pirates. Making matters worse is that his partner in the venture, Ulanta, is dealing with serious insecurities about his ability to rise to the occasion. As the pair surmounts the danger and learns the final truth behind the mystery, Pas tries a gambit that will not only save Ulanta's domain, but enrich his own. All for the love of sweets!

Wedding bells ring for Count Retes—and House Morteln orchestrates the whole affair, taking the chance to present Morteln’s proud new status for all to see. With that prestige comes new perks, and Pas wishes to use the extra income to enhance their irrigation system with a new mountaintop reservoir. To do so, though, he’ll need to negotiate land usage with the master of the neighboring fief. Meanwhile, Glacage’s son Ramit starts to feel overshadowed by Pas’s accomplishments and makes a daring move to prove himself.

What seemed like a foolish act on Ramit’s part turns into an opportunity for Casserole and Pas to exploit. While Casserole interrogates the foreign soldiers intruding on their territory, Pas ventures into enemy terrain to confront the lord of the aggressing domain personally. Even after all seems resolved, a new complication creeps up that could put House Morteln at odds with the royal family of Braulich itself. To save his father from a false accusation, Pastry must get to the bottom of the terrible crime!
