Urban legends have come to life, manifesting as phenomena called “Folklore.” The mysterious Thompson Agency is dedicated to identifying and capturing these beings to minimize their harm to humanity. Thompson agents Emma and Yuliya are assigned to a sleepy branch in the countryside. While horrific atrocities are committed by Folklore in Tokyo, our heroes clean basements and fix the locals’ toilets. However, it is in Folklore’s nature to appear wherever humans gather. Myths, rumors, and fairy tales enter the minds of the public, then grow into fears that manifest on the streets, in the dark, and around every corner. When a factory owner calls upon the Thompson Agency to investigate a strange occurrence, he believes his workers are being superstitious. But Emma and Yuliya discover that something dangerous might have arrived to lick its wounds in their sleepy town—and it won’t stay weak for long...

Invincible-class Folklore are the rarest kind, and Thompson agents Emma and Yuliya are now face-to-face with one. The coach of the dead has no known weaknesses and leaves no survivors, but it’s about to cross to the next life with their kind and clumsy manager inside. Their sleepy countryside Thompson Company branch is now facing Folklore far beyond their abilities, and they are woefully underprepared. While searching for Busby’s stoop chair, Emma and Yuliya find themselves attacked by a pair of mysterious serial killers. As our Thompson agents lose the upper hand, they’re rescued just in time by Saisse, a man who claims to be their supervisor. There seems to be more to the story, however, as Saisse’s return to Tokyo heralds a frenzy of Folklore activity—the novemdiales.
