As someone “blessed” with the rare potential for recovery magic, Tory Noelle is drafted as a combat medic at the tender age of fifteen. Fighting as a teen soldier won’t shake her confidence, though—not when she can recall carefree days of playing first-person-shooter games in a previous life. After the Sabat Union launches a surprise large-scale attack on the Western Front, the Austinese Army is brought to its knees, and the Sabatian soldiers begin their invasion of Austin. Tory and the surviving soldiers manage to escape to the fortified city of Mashdale, but they’re not in the clear yet. As the enemy closes in, pillaging and burning villages along the way, the Austinese Army must prepare for a defensive battle to buy time for the higher-ups to scramble for a peace plan. However, Tory and the Austinese Army find that they may have to pay for that time with their lives...

The Sabat Union has rejected Austin’s unconditional surrender! Now, Major Lenvil must cobble together what remains of the Austinese Army and prepare for war once again. Unfortunately, every combat medic was wiped out during the Sylph Attacks...all except for Tory. As the last one standing, it’s only natural that she’s put in charge of Austin’s new health squad as its chief combat medic. Tory has her work cut out for her since not only are all the members amateurs but almost all of them are older than her! How is a fifteen-year-old supposed to be a squad commander? In the army, a superior’s orders are absolute, but how can she keep them in line when she’s so weak? All Tory can do is stumble through navigating her new role and hold on until they can reconvene with the Southern Field Army!
