This all changes the moment his life in Japan comes to an abrupt end and he finds himself reborn in the strange new world of the Shiyalta Kingdom. His new life includes everything he once lacked: loving parents, a comfortable home, and a promising future breeding and raising birds on his dad’s ranch. 
For centuries, the kingdom he now calls home has enjoyed peace and prosperity, shielded by friendly nations that, like Shiyalta itself, were established with the collapse of a once-great empire. War is a distant problem, relevant only to Shiyalta’s ruling families whose warriors periodically set out to join the fighting upon massive birds trained by Yuri’s dad and others. But this peaceful existence can’t last forever. Something rotten lies at the heart of the kingdom, and it doesn’t take someone with Yuri’s exceptional intelligence to realize that those distant battles will only remain irrelevant for so long.

Yuri is close to losing everything. He was forced to leave his parents—along with Shiyalta’s queen—to certain death after the three drank poisoned wine during dinner. Meanwhile, the extent of the poison’s effect on Princess Carol—his wife-to-be—and her unborn child remain unclear.

To reach safety, Yuri has fled the royal castle along with Carol on the same kingeagle. He must make contact with his family’s soldiers in the capital and lead the fight as they break free from the city. If he can reach home and assume control of his father’s army, his next fight will be for vengeance.

Although Princess Carla was the poisoner, the witches that infest the capital are behind the plot. Yuri vows to show no mercy until everyone responsible lies dead. The kingdom must be reformed, beginning with the eradication of the witches.

But with great turmoil brewing in the Shiyalta Kingdom, foreign enemies may see an opportunity.

After surviving an assassination attempt that claims his parents’ and the queen’s life, Yuri fights to flee the capital with Princess Carol. If he can make it home and take control of his father’s army, he’ll show no mercy to the witches responsible.
